Small microscopic droplets that forms mist is difficult to separate because of its small size. Traditional drop eliminators do not function so coalescence filters must be used that agglomerates the mist to bigger drops so the mist can be transferred to liquid fluid.
The coalescence process takes place in a cylindrical packed bed of fibre glass filters. In the bed the small droplets agglomerates to larger droplets whereupon they are transferred to a fluid which can be drained from the bottom of the cylinder
